Principal Scientist/Associate Director, Translational Biology

Location: South San Francisco, CA / Flexible

Position Summary:

We are seeking a talented and highly-motivated scientist to join our Translational Biology Research group. Our team is dedicated to the exploration of target biology and drug mechanisms. This position will direct in vivo immunology and pharmacology activities, including exploratory biomarkers in murine models. Prior drug development experience in immunomodulatory biologics is required. The candidate is expected to have deep knowledge of autoimmune-related disease biology and a thorough understanding of relevant mouse models.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and management of mouse model studies at CROs
  • Direction of a team of scientists to perform pharmacodynamic and biomarker analyses
  • Preparation of relevant sections for regulatory findings

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in immunology (or closely-related field)
  • 8+ years of postdoctoral industry experience, including at least 4 years in immunology-related protein therapeutics
  • Expertise in in vivo models of autoimmune disease biology
  • Detail-oriented and analytical with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a team-oriented, matrixed environment
  • Good planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience directing research activities during the IND-enabling phase of biologic drug development
  • Management experience
