Research Associate /Associate Scientist – Mammalian Cell Culture

Position Summary:
TRexBio is looking for a motivated Research Associate/Associate Scientist to join our growing biotherapeutics team. The candidate will oversee the maintenance and expansion of cell cultures for production of antibodies and other proteins to enable the development of novel therapies. A strong candidate will have experience with mammalian suspension cell lines such as HEK293 or CHO and excellent aseptic technique, as well as clear communication skills.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain in-house mammalian cell cultures through cell counting, seeding, and expansion
- Monitor cell-line passage numbers and maintain inventory of frozen cell stocks
- Expand cells for routine recombinant protein production
- Perform transient transfections in mammalian cell culture for recombinant protein production
- Contribute to smooth operation of department through consumable inventory management
- Assist with assorted lab tasks, such as buffer and DNA preparation, SDS-page gel analysis, etc., as needed
- Communicate results to team members in a clear and timely manner
- Maintain accurate documentation of lab work in electronic laboratory notebook
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in cell biology, molecular biology, or related field with 2+ years’ experience, or PhD with 0-2 years of experience
- Excellent aseptic technique
- Cell culture experience, preferably with suspension mammalian cell culture lines (e.g. HEK293 or CHO cells)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good record keeping and organizational skills
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience generating stable cell lines and/or protein purification is a plus but not required
